Lions' outside hitter Claire Alfers wins HCAC Player of the Week honors

[10/17/2005] The College of Mount St. Joseph's Claire Alfers (Hamilton, OH/Hamilton Badin), who led the 11th-ranked Lions to four wins last week, including three conference victories, has been selected Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

The junior outside hitter recorded 46 kills, 56 digs, seven service aces, five block assists, and a .307 hitting percentage in 14 games. Included among her strong performances was a 16-kill effort in the Lions' 3-1 win over Hanover on Oct. 11. On the week, she averaged 3.29 kills and four digs per game. Alfers has 242 kills, 297 digs, 26 aces, and 38 blocks this season.
